POTATOES DESTROYED A.M.
Penney Warehouse and Contents Damaged by Fire - Both
Were Insured. On Thursday evening at about 8:30 o’clock the fire company responded to a fire call from the third ward. The fire was located in the egg warehouse of the A.M. Penney Co., now used as a potato warehouse. The fire department was on the scene
in a remarkably short time and soon had the flames under control. The loss from
the flames was not very great but the stream of water which was poured onto the
fire for about thirty minutes, did considerable damage to the potatoes in
storage in the building. The electric light service was
interfered with in that section of the city for a short time and the electric
light company suffered the loss of a meter.
Both the building and stock were insured in the Havenore and Van Epps
agencies and the loss is estimated at about $800. |
