THE WAUPACA POST Thursday, June 07, 1900 IN ACTIVE OPERATION Very few
people in the city, outside of those directly interested, realize how great an
industry the Waupaca Crushed Stone & Granite Company is. On Tuesday evening they paid their men for
May, over $1,200 being disbursed, which amount will increase each month until
the plant is run to its fullest capacity.
In addition, more than $700 was paid out in the city for incidentals. The
company is making daily shipments of crushed stone to Chicago, and is now
working upon an order for 200 carloads, which they are getting out at the rate
of nearly five carloads a day, which is about half the capacity of the plant
when under full sway. The industry is a good thing for the city, and more of them would be welcome, particularly if they come as did this one, without asking any bonus or aid from the city. |
