CONSTRUCTION MEN STRUCK ON TUESDAY

Difference Comes About Length of Hours

Returned to Work This Morning to Finish Job

Sixty-five Bulgarians, employed in the construction of the Waupaca-Green Bay railway struck for nine and a half hours with ten hours pay on Tuesday. After remaining out until Thursday morning they again went to work without any concessions form the management of the work.

The true cause of the unrest is either that they are unaccustomed to the rigor of our climate and wish to go south or that the interpreter has been offered a bonus by some construction company for furnishing men.  As none of the men can talk English the real situation could not be learned.  However, upon the refusal of Mr. McGrath to pay the strikers until November 10th they resumed work with the understanding they were to remain until the work of construction was completed.

About thirty Bulgarians who have been working on the Waupaca Green Bay railway left their work on Wednesday morning. They wanted pay for the time it took them to get to their work from their boarding house and the contractor couldn’t see it that way.
