T.W. Davidson and Mr. McGrathson of the contractor who has the Waupaca Green Bay Railway construction have finished the rock blasting on the granite north of where the road crosses the Central tracks and are leveling up and grading each way on that station.

The Wis. Central Pile driver has been busy this week driving piles for a bridge at the point just east of the Stone Crusher plant where the Waupaca Green Bay tracks will cross under the Central tracks.  The dirt taken from the Central’s high bank for the tunnel crossing will be used to level up the grade in that vicinity.

The rock work and grading north of the depot site is being pushed with vigor this week.

The wall is about ready for the depot building to be moved in place when it will be remodeled for a serviceable freight and passenger station.

As soon as the grade is completed a full force will be put on the job to rush the track laying.  This good weather makes all hands feel good and hopeful that they will get the work done before Christmas.

T.J. McGrath of Green Bay has been in the city this week looking after the progress of construction work on the W.G.B.Ry.

President A.G. Nelson announces that the bonds of the W.G.B. Ry. Are now on the market in denominations of $500 each.  They draw 6 per cent, payable semi-annually.

The pile driver closed its work today on the crossing.

The steel rails are laid about a mile and a half this side of Scandinavia, and a crossing has been safely made, it is said, over the famous “sink hole”.

WHAT’S DOING ON W.G.B.R.

The Waupaca Green Bay Railroad is progressing and the good weather is favorable to construction work.  President nelson says track laying and surfacing is being pushed as fast as possible and with good weather and currency to pay off the men about 6,000 on the 15th, he thinks that thirty days will hear the engine tooting into the station at Waupaca.

The gang of Bulgarians and others are busy filling another sink hole near the marl beds about a mile this side of the quarry.  It was feared at one time that this sink would be as treacherous as the one near Scandinavia but reports come in that its spacious maw appears to be nearly satisfied and that the filling in will soon fill it up.

The narrow gague track and dump cars are at the Wisconsin Central bank where the dirt will be hauled to and placed in the fills each side and the pile bridge under the Central tracks will be strengthened and the crossing made in good condition for traffic by both roads  The sidings in the yards and connecting road bed to the Central’s spur tracks are about finished.  The balance of the rock blasting will be through with this week.  Work on the round house and transforming the old church body into combination passenger and freight depot will be started and completed by the time needed.

The new railroad is approaching the city, smoke from the construction and gravel trains being seen near the city limits.  If the ties which are shipped reaches here today the track will reach the station by Monday or Tuesday.  All the switching tracks will be completed this week and round house started at once.  Mr. Penney has a watchful eye on rushing the depot and other things on this end of the line.  The traffic manager of the G.B. & W. Road says they have a combination car, engine and tender ready for the use of the Waupaca road until their equipment is completed.
