WAUPACA REPUBLICAN POST Friday, October 07, 1898 But Fortunately Nobody Was Hurt Another accident, which delayed the limited on the Central about three hours occurred at Waupaca at an early hour Tuesday morning. A freight train going east had been side tracked to let the limited pass. Another double-header freight, with two cabooses on the rear, going west, was also being side tracked. This was but a very few minutes before the arrival of the limited. The west bound freight broke in two and some of the cars ran back and collided with the freight that was standing on the side track. In the collision two of the cabooses were quite badly wrecked, and a couple of the cars were thrown in such a manner as to obstruct the main track. A wrecking crew came down from the Point and cleared the track. No one was hurt, and the strange thing about the accident was that a man who was asleep in one of the cabooses was not even awakened by the shock, although the car he was in was badly wrecked. |
