THE WAUPACA REPUBLICAN POST August 19, 1915 FARMERS WORK TRAIL Waupacaites Invited to Manifest Their Interest in Good Roads by Work Within the past two weeks farmers living near Sheridan have donated work by men and teams and hauled gravel on a portion of the Yellowstone Trail west of that village and those who have seen the work report that it has resulted in great improvement in the condition of the road. Another and larger piece of work is to be undertaken by farmers along the Sheridan and Waupaca portion of the Trail near the Frank Penney farm and it has been suggested by a resident of Farmington that a gentle reminder be given through the columns of the Republican-Post to the good roads enthusiasts of this city that on the coming occasion an opportunity will be given to the soft-handed city chaps to come out and manifest their enthusiasm through pick and shovel, preferably the latter. Three Miles Graded. Mr. L. H. Harrington and Wm. Eichsteadt, who have from the first been ready to donate work along the “south road” between Waupaca and Weyauwega have during the past two weeks used a small steel grader on three miles of the road from Frank Lear’s to the brook near Henry Klug’s place. This work which could not have been done by use of the King drag has greatly improved this portion of the old “south road.” |
