SAW MILE OF TORCHES

Weyauwega Citizens Receive Special Mention

in Write-Up of Yellowstone Trail Relay Run

In the detailed account of the relay automobile run from Chicago, Ill., to Seattle, Wash., over the newly marked Yellowstone Trail may be found the following recognition of the wide-awake citizens of our neighboring village of Weyauwega under the caption

A Mile of Torches

Weyauwega surpassed all others – a mile of torches and red fire with a background of men, women and children, made a sight seldom seen as our swiftly moving car went through the cheering files of people.  There was no time to stop and thank them, but unconsciously we stood up and waved a greeting.

People who have done as much in improving the trail and in blazing the same in such short time, deserve something more tangible than a smile and a wave of the hand, but if I mistake not they will get it as the years roll by.
