IOLA ADVERTISING TOUR

Twenty-five Autos With Citizens and Brass Band in County Tour on Thursday

Twenty-five automobile loads of Iola boosters including a twenty-seven piece brass band were in this city Thursday morning when the band gave a short concert and members of the party shook hands with residents of Waupaca and then left over the Yellowstone route for Weyauwega.  The party planned to strike New London for dinner, then go to Clintonville, Marion, Big Falls and home.  The first point where the band gave a concert was at Scandinavia on their way to this city.

Iola is fortunate in having a live bunch of citizens who have faith in their ability to reach success by other means than jealousy of a neighbor.  No immediate benefit was sought by those making up the hundred or more progressive citizens of Iola by this run of a hundred miles about the county.  We hope they will come again.

Following is a copy of the placard which was distributed by members of the party:

“Iola Booster Day, July 29, 1915.  Iola, Wisconsin, the town with up-to-date business places and methods.  A thriving town of 1,000 population located at the terminal of the Iola & Northern Ry., in one of the best dairying and agricultural sections of Wisconsin, well known for its large local trade, the beauty of its streets and residences and its cement sidewalks.  ‘Iola First.’
