WAUPACA
RECORD-LEADER September
14, 1916 THE
YELLOWSTONE TRAIL RELAY IS AN ENTIRE SUCCESS. The great Yellowstone Trail relay
race by which autos were carrying a message from the war department at
Washington, to Seattle, Washington, came through Waupaca, Wednesday morning,
two hours ahead of time; the car which took up the message at Fremont, arriving
here at 6:43 instead of 8:15 as scheduled.
Erle Whipple, general manager for the relay in this state, and J.L. Seeger
of Stevens Point were in the car which was driven by P.J. Christofferson, and
it left here at top speed, Van Nelson relaying it from here to Stevens Point. The rains had made the roads bad,
but good time had been made up to this city. Word was received here that the cars arrived at Stevens Point at 7:55 a.m. without accident. |
