WHOLE ARMY OF MEN MAKE GOOD ROADS.

 

Three Hundred and Twenty-two Loads of Gravel Hauled in two Days

More to be Done Tomorrow

 

            Last Wednesday morning thirty men started in automobiles from the Farmers State Bank Corner with dinner pails and shovels, eager to get into action.  On their way to the gravel pit they passed farmers all going to the same pit with smiles on their faces as they saw our business men and wondering what they would be able to do with their shovels.

            There was no longer time for the farmer to smile when he drove into the pit.  The first thing he thought of was as to how he would be able to get out of the pit before his wagon was buried in the gravel.

            Again on Thursday morning, sixty men and twenty-three wagons arrived at the pit and by night had accomplished more than on the day preceding.

            Suffice to say that in the two days 322 loads of the best gravel in the country was placed on one of the sandiest roads in the vicinity, making it one of the best roads in the vicinity.  It can no longer be said that the town of Farmington is neglecting their roads as every resident of the town is now a good roads enthusiast.

            One more day of this work will put the road from Sheridan to Waupaca in first-class shape.  The road committee is making plans for that day, (tomorrow) and this community will appreciate having young men who want to donate a day’s work on this road, call up or notify the secretary, Walter J. Nelson, at once.
