The
Waupaca Business
College, established here last
September, is no longer an experiment.
There are about forty students enrolled and every student
enthusiastically praises the work done.
Mr. Boyles has met many difficulties incident to the opening of a
business college in any new locality, but these have been overcome and the work
is now moving along smoothly. One
visiting the school, while in session, cannot fail to be impressed with the
earnestness of the young men and women gathered there and their evident purpose
to acquire that which is there offered them.
Another feature which is evident to an outsider is the moral one of the
school, the earnestness of the instructors, their eagerness to aid every
student to get the most out of each session’s work. One advantage of a small college, the
personal contact of each scholar with the head of their institution, is
especially noticeable here, as Professor Boyles takes an almost paternal
interest in the progress and welfare of each of his pupils. Those who have finished the common school
course and do not care for a higher education would find it greatly to their
advantage to take a six month’s or year’s course here to give them the
necessary insight into the affairs of life.
There
is still room for about twenty more students and only three months of the
school year have passed. There are
opportunities for partial self support, so that no one who is in earnest need
lack opportunity to complete the course.
