THE WAUPACA REPUBLICAN July 14, 1905 WILL SOON MOVE TO BANK BLOCK. The Citizens’ Telephone Exchange Will Be Greatly Improved In Connection with the Long distance Service of the Wisconsin Company Reorganization – Slight Raise in Rates. H. G. Slater, owner and manager of the Citizens’ Telephone Exchange of this city announces that the exchange will soon occupy its new quarters in the Waupaca County National Bank block and improvements will be installed equal to the very best in the United States. A central energy switch board will be installed, automatic ally in its construction whereby when the receiver is taken down central will be rung and when the party is through talking and the receiver replaced it will “ring off” thus saving much time. 3000 feet of new cable will also be installed. The cost of the contemplated improvements will be about $3,500. Patrons are expected to share slightly in this expense and a small raise in monthly rates will be established which is much less than the average cities of this size: Private line business phone $2. Party line business phone $1.50. Private line residence phone $1.50. Party line residence phone $1.00. It is said there will be a re-organization and incorporation giving our citizens a chance to take stock and have a voice in the affairs of the company. |
