STONE ARCH BRIDGE GIVES WAY North
Road to Weyauwega Close To Traffic While
Repairs Are Being Made On Hom Bridge The past season seems to have been
an extremely trying one on bridges of this section. During the spring freshet the State Street bridge caved in; then
the dam and roadway at the Felting mills were carried away and now we find that
the large bridge just east of the city, on the north road to Weyauwega was
undermined at the same time so that it must be repaired. Two of the above mentioned bridges
are of the stone-arch type which are supposed to last almost indefinitely. Whether these bridges have been defective or
that this type of structure is not proving satisfactory, is one which should be
looked into. This closing of the north road at
this time is indeed unfortunate as the south one is closed due to the
construction of a piece of state road.
This condition of affairs is proving a real hardship to some of our citizens
who are frequent callers at Weyauwega. |
