THE WAUPACA POST January 26, 1928 CHAS. W. CHESLEY DIES SUNDAY A.M. Charles W. Chesley passed away at his home on West Fulton Street, Sunday, Jan. 22, after an illness of five weeks. He was born Oct. 14, 1867, in the house in which he died. He spent his entire life in this city. For 20 years he was proprietor of the Blue Front Restaurant and for the past 17 years has represented the Prudential Life Insurance Co. Deceased had hosts of friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was an active member of Waupaca I.O.O.F. lodge and was one of the best informed and widely known Odd Fellows in this district. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, to whom he was married on May 4, 1921; two children by a former marriage, Mrs. E.A. Fisher and Howard Chesley, both of Milwaukee; one brother, Frank Chesley, of Detroit, Mich., and one sister, Mrs. Wallace Baldwin, of Kenosha, Wis. The funeral was held from the house Tuesday, Jan. 24, Rev. G. Linn Ferguson, rector of St. Mark’s Episcopal church, officiating. The Odd Fellows conducted the services at the grave. The funeral was largely attended, there being nearly 50 Odd Fellows in line when they marched to the house. Among those from out of town in attendance at the last rites were: Mr. and Mrs. E.A. Fisher, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Chesley, Milwaukee; Frank Chesley, Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. Wallace Baldwin, Kenosha; Hugh Chesley, Norman Bronson and R.B. Goldsmith, all of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Mark Gamer, Stevens Point; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Schider and son Lloyd, Clintonville; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Schider and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Schider, Almond, and Mr. and Mrs. Will Schider of Iola. |
