THE
REPUBLICAN March
7, 1884 THAT
NEW MILL Roberts
& Oborn will Commence Operations at Once. Last week the REPUBLICAN was not
prepared to state the particulars of the formulation of the new milling firm
consisting of Major R.N. Roberts and Sam Oborn, for the very reason that they
had not bought out all of the interested parties to the power, and by request
of the above gentlemen kept still about it until the water-power purchase was
completed. The owners of the power,
T.M. Payne, J. Poll, the Jardine and Mead estates, transfer all of the water
power where the saw mill stands, also the site the east side of the street,
where the mill will be erected. A water
trunk will be laid from the pond across the mill, and the water discharged into
the river at that point. They will have
a 15 or 16 foot head, making one of the finest powers in town. The mill will be 40 x 50 feet in size, 3
stories and a basement. It will be
supplied with the Stevens rolls and all of the modern and model machinery for
making all kinds of flour and feed. The
saw mill company reserve the right to saw out what logs are banked this
winter. In the meantime the mill will
be erected, and the proprietors hope to have it ready for the fall and winter
business. |
