            J.I. Case purchased a $1000 shawl for his wife with some of the money won by his fast colt, Jay-Eye-See.  Almost any woman would be willing to have her husband own a fast horse if he spent the money earned by it in such a manner, but most of the owners of fast nags have a decidedly different method of getting rid of their winnings.
