WAUPACA COUNTY POST June 13, 2002 Johnson recognized by craft magazine. June Johnson of Waupaca has been named one of the top 200 traditional craftsmen in the country for the fifth consecutive year by Early American Life magazine, a national publication influential in defining period style for the past 32 years. Johnson, maker of tatted articles, will be listed in the magazine’s Directory of Traditional American Crafts, which appears in the August 2002 issue. Selected from among hundreds of entries nationwide, Johnson’s craft was rated for its quality workmanship and fidelity to period design and construction techniques by judges expert in museum-quality antiques and fine, high-end reproductions. This year’s judges were Karin J. Goldstein, curator of original collections at Plymouth Plantation, Plymouth, Mass., and Constance A. McCulloch, retail manager for the White House Historical Society, Washington, D.C. |
