ALBERT KROLL KILLS WIFE

New London Couple Had Quarreled

Wife Determined to Have Divorce

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Kroll of New London had not been living as amicably as they should and Thursday last after a wordy altercation the husband upbraided his wife for having taken counsel with an attorney looking to having a divorce, and grasping her wrist he fired two shots that missed.  The frightened woman fought her way out of doors and broke away and the third shot went through an umbrella she was carrying.  The fourth shot caused instant death, the bullet passing through the woman’s brain.

Sheriff Tollefson was about four blocks away at a hotel and was the first officer to reach the scene of the tragedy.

When he reached the spot, Kroll had been overpowered by a youth and a neighbor woman.  Kroll tried to send the fifth charge into the face of the boy, who clinched with him, but the gun was not discharged and Kroll was spared from committing the crime of a second murder.

Kroll’s examination will be held Thursday, Aug. 13, at which time he will doubtless plead guilty and receive sentence.

The funeral of the late Mrs. Kroll was held at New London Monday afternoon of this week.

Mrs. Thos. Havey and sons Mark, Thomas and Dan, of Milwaukee, are guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Orr this week.
