DIED

LEVISEE – In Farmington, of nervous prostration, Feb. 10, 1890; Mrs. Charlotte S. Levisee, aged 56 years and nine months.

The deceased, whose maiden name was Charlotte S. Kenyen, was born near Watertown, Jefferson county, New York.  In 1853 she married the late A.M. Garde, and in 1854 came with her husband to Waupaca, settling on the farm where she died, about two miles west of this city, which place has always been familiarly known as “Garde’s Corners.”  When the Episcopal church was established here, she united with that faith and society.  The fruits of her first union, were two sons and two daughters, Mrs. R. Vaughan of Shawano county, Miss Carrie, teacher in our schools, Ambrose C. and Fred Garde.  In 1865, Mr. Garde died and for a number of years the mother bravely managed her farm and cared for her children.  About twelve years ago she married Mr. W. Levisee, who, with the above mentioned children mourn the loss of a most noble Christian wife and mother.

Ms. C.B. MacArthur is a sister of the deceased, another sister lives in Florida, and a sister and brother live in Michigan.  Deceased had been in failing health for several years, the past few months suffering greatly.  The funeral was held from the house on Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Perry Millar conducting the services, and the remains of another of Waupaca’s pioneers were laid at rest in the city cemetery.
