MANAWA’S FIRE LOSS

Odd Fellow Hall Valued At $5,00 is Total Loss – Insurance is Only $2,200

A telephone message Monday morning from Manawa gave the information that the Odd Fellows’ Hall used also for opera and pubic purposes had been destroyed by fire of unknown origin Sunday evening, the fire being discovered at about eight o’clock.  The equipment for fighting the fire proved so inadequate that it was emphasized by the party who gave the information.  The building was valued at $5,000 and the insurance was only $2,200 according to our informant.  It is a matter of regret that the equipment for fighting the fire was not sufficient for checking the fire.  There has been no meeting in the building since the closing of the lodge Saturday evening about twenty hours before the fire broke out.
