WAUPACA POST May 2, 1901 DEATH OF OLAF OVROM. Olaf Ovrom, who went to Colorado last winter for his health, died at Boulder, that state, on Sunday evening, of consumption. His death was not unexpected, as the reports from the attending physicians during the past two months were to the effect that he could not long survive. Mr. Ovrom was born in Norway in May 1865, and came to this city to reside about fifteen years ago. He learned the jewelry and watch making trade of Charles R. Hoffmann, leaving his employ in 1892 to go into business for himself in the same line. About four years ago he purchased the building now occupied by Chas. M. Hall, who succeeded him in business the first of the year. Mr. Ovrom was deservedly popular. He was a strong Republican, though not an office seeker, and was a frequent delegate to conventions. He was a member of the Masons, Odd Fellows, Knights of Pythias and Woodmen, and an honorary member of the Danes Home Society. He counted as his friends all who knew him, and it is needless to say that his death will be regretted by all. He was never married. The immediate relatives are his brothers, Ingebret, of the Union Store company, Walter of Clifford, N.D., and a brother and sister in Norway, whom Olaf visisted last summer, when, in company with F.W. Rosche, he made an extended European trip. Mr. Ovrom’s remains will arrive in this city tonight and the funeral will be held at two o’clock Friday afternoon at the home of Ingebret Ovrom in the third ward. It will be under the auspices of the Masonic Lodge. |
