RIPE OLD AGE Mrs. Aug. Pagel, mother of Mrs. Carl
Pagel of Ogdensburg, and well known in this vicinity, passed quietly away
Thursday, Dec. 16, after a lingering illness of about four years. Her funeral took place Sunday, Dec. 19, and
was largely attended. Mrs. Pagel, formerly Miss Freda
Berndt, was born in Weisenfeld, Germany, Oct. 13, 1823, and lived with her
parents in Rottnow up to her marriage with August Pagel in 1848. They remained at that place until 1868, then
they came to America and settled in West Bloomfield, Wis., living in that
vicinity for about thirty years. The
past ten years she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Carl Pagel, who
resides near Ogdensburg. She leaves to mourn her demise an aged husband, one daughter, two sons, five sisters, one in Germany, two in Milwaukee, Mrs. Thos. Roach of Evanswood, and Mrs. Henry Speckman of the Veterans Home, fifteen grandchildren and fifty-one great grandchildren. |
