MAN SUFFERS A BROKEN LEG Which
Must Be Amputated to Save the Young Man’s Life Suffering
Patiently. Misfortunes
seem to delight in waiting on each other.
Charles Paris of this city, thirty-five years of age, has been a life
long cripple; in fact he has been unable to transport himself in any manner,
save in a wheel chair. Last
Thursday he broke his leg in a very peculiar manner. Sitting in his chair, he had his leg thrown across the corner of
the seat when a slight jar to the chair acted on the leverage of the lower leg
and foot, causing the bones to snap off completely. Doctors
Andrews and Wood were called; following a consultation, they decided that an
amputation was necessary. This
operation was performed on Saturday, Dr. McCallin administering the
anesthetic. The young man is now doing
well as could be expected under the circumstances. He has the sympathy of the whole community, indomitable courage
and stubborn determination to improve are what keep him up. |
