WAUPACA POST February 22, 1906 NEW GUILD HALL The new guild hall in the basement of St. Mark’s church was informally opened last Saturday evening, a reception being held, and about a hundred persons being present. Rev. George Hirst and wife, Mrs. A.G. Nelson, who is president of St. Mark’s guild, and Mrs. C.H. Truesdell, representing her father, Hon. E.L. Browne, to whose liberality the church is indebted for the finishing of the room, received the guests as they arrived. Light refreshments were served, during the evening, the members of St. Agnes guild doing the serving, and Mrs. F.F. Wheeler and Mrs. J.L. Sturtevant presiding at the coffee urns. The new hall is finished in light colors, and will be used for a Sunday School room as well as a guild hall. In the rear is a kitchen, well appointed, which was completed by the St. Mark’s guild. The room is heated by the church furnace, and lighted by electricity, making it very pleasant. It is expected that church socials will be held there in the future, and also some of the mid-week services. |
