James Van Epps went down to Shadow lake after ice, yesterday morning and drove his team on a place where a pile of snow had rotted the ice so badly that both horses broke through.  Charley Smith happened to be near with his team and hitched onto them and drew them out.  They were not hurt very much and Jim tanks Providence and Charley Smith that they didn’t go to the bottom of the hole.
