Weather Signals.

It is understood that each telephone station on the Badger line will soon make arrangements to have weather flags, an d upon receipt of the message as regards the weather forecasts, as sent to the Waupaca display station from the United States weather bureau it will be immediately telephoned over the line daily, between 10 and 11 o’clock a.m. (unless there is no change).  They will display flags for the benefit of the farmers along the line.  The information will be of much value to farmers most all times of the year, and they will have the satisfaction of getting the reports just as promptly as if they lived in the city.  The service is for the benefit of agriculture as much, or more, as for any other business, and they can thank the Badger Telephone company for offering the free use of their lines to have the information conveyed to them.

The weather man here would also state that the government pays nothing to volunteer observes and displaymen. It sends the dispatches and the telegraph company gets pay from Uncle Sam.  “Us fellows” give the information to the public for the public good.  The people of this city contributed about $12 three years ago for flags.  Several have had to be renewed two or three times, which ahs been done without calling on the public. However, we are confident the people appreciate the work enough to lend a helping hand mot any time the hat is passed, to replenish the flags or benefit the service.  The state weather bureau has complimented the Waupaca arrangement for displaying signals as being the best in the state.
