30, 1908 OBITUARY Alonzo
E. Wilkins was born in Vermont, De. 18th, 1848. He came to this state with is parents when about five years of
age settling at Parfreyville, Waupaca County.
His parents dying when he was about seven years of age, he made his home
with friends in this vicinity until 1864 when he enlisted and entered the army
where he was taken prisoner and imprisoned both at Libby and Andersonville,
where he was confined for eight months.
He
was married to Ellen Barnhart in 1871. Two children were born to them. Martin, who died in Idaho about two years
ago, and Mrs. Oscar Smith of Dayton.
His wife dying in 1875, he was married to Lillie Barwell in 1881, and to
this union were three children, only one now living, Mrs. Verne Hebard of
Parfreyville. His wife died in
1891. He married Mrs. Frank Baker of
west Lind in 1893. She with their three
children, Mildred, Gladys and Eleanore, survive him. He
was accidentally kicked by a horse in the abdomen on Monday from the effects of
which he died on Wednesday, April 22nd.
He was a man well known and respect by a wide circle of friends, as
attested by the many different offices conferred upon him by the people, and
his loss will be deeply felt in this community. A
large concourse of friends attended the
last rites. Rev. Allen officiated, assisted by Rev. W.D. Cornell of Chicago, a
former pastor of this place. The
sorrowing family have hte heartfelt sympathy of the community. |
