WATCH FOR MOTOR COP

Complaint is made to The Journal Tour club of an alleged "speed trap" at the southern outskirts of Theresa on Highway 15. As one comes south after passing through the village there is a considerable grade. One naturally picks up speed on leaving a town and this is augmented by the grade. No sign appears other than the back of the state commission board giving the population of the village to northbound traffic. If the way is perfectly clear, no cars, teams or pedestrians ahead, the motorist almost invariably steps on the gas and hurries along. He is trailed and overtaken by a motorcycle officer, who seemingly was lying hidden near the village limits, and informed that he was violating the village speed limit of 15 miles an hour. The result is a bill of $14.92 before Judge Hilary Haeffley, unless the defendant wants to take the more expensive alternative of posting bail and returning later to stand trial. The officer is J.A. Beck. – Milwaukee Journal.
