WAUPACA COUNTY POST
April 14, 1921
MILITARY CO. PROMOTED TO HIGHER RANK
WAUPACA COMPANY OF NATIONAL GUARD NOW PERMANENTLY ASSIGNED
TO THIRTY-SECOND DIVISION
Capt. Roy Holly and Lieut. B.M. Barnes were in Madison, Monday, in the interest of the local military company.
As a result, Waupaca company of the National Guard, is now permanently assigned as a Howitzer company of the 127th Infantry of the 32nd Division.
There are twelve infantry companies in a regiment and only one Howitzer and one Headquarters company to a regiment. Therefore the transfer of an infantry company to a Howitzer company is considered a prize and proves that a high degree of efficiency has been attained and maintained by a company. That Waupaca company is entitled to this distinction is borne out by the excellent report that was made after the inspection of the company a short time ago.
The Howitzer company is directly under the supervision of the Regimental Headquarters and is armed with a light artillery piece known as a one pounder, a new machine gun called the Howitzer. Each man is armed with a Colt automatic pistol.
The local company will start work on the new drill next Monday night. The company is up to full strength.
