WAUPACA AND OUTAGAMIE ASSEMBLY DISTRICT CONVENTION. – We learn that the convention held at Hortonville last Wednesday, nominated DAVID SCOTT of Waupacca Falls for the Assembly and selected THEODORE CONKEY to represent that district in the State Convention.

Democratic Assembly District Convention
The Democratic Assembly District Convention for the counties of Outagamie, Waupacca and Oconto met at Hortenia pursuant to call of the District Committee, August 4th A.D., 1853. The Convention having been called to order by the Chairman of the Committee at one o’clock in the afternoon.
JAMES MEIKLEJOHN of Waupacca County was appointed President of the Convention, and WILLIAM G. COOPER, Sec’y. On motion the President appointed A.?. Sanborn, P.H. Smith, David Scott, Wm. G. Cooper and E.L. Browne a committee on credentials. The Convention then took a recess until four o’clock.The Convention having re-assembled at four, the Committee on credentials made the following report:
Waupacca County – Town of Mukwa, 3 votes; Weyauwega, 3 votes; Waupaca, 3 votes; Scandinavia, 3 votes, Dayton, 3 votes; Lind, 3 votes; Centerville, 3 votes; Farmington, 3 votes.
Oconto County – Town of Oconto 3 votes; Marinette, 3 votes; Clarkeville, 3 votes.
Outagamie County – Town of Hortenia, 3 votes; Ellington, 3 votes; Grand Chute, 3 votes; Kaukauna, 3 votes; Freedom, 3 votes; Greenville, 3 votes.
On motion, the report of the Committee was accepted, and the committee discharged. Lucius I. Tafft, Esq., then moved the adoption of the report, which was carried.
Hereupon Messrs. Kethroe, Coles, Hardache, Whitney, Graves, J. Blood, H.L. Blood, A.S. Sanborn and R. Morrow, exhibiting an appearance of dissatisfaction with the decision of the majority, withdrew from the Convention.
The Convention then proceeded to an informal ballot for a candidate for Member of the Assembly, with the following result;
DAVID SCOTT, 33. JOHN B. JACOBS, 8.On motion of P.H. Smith,
DAVID SCOTT was unanimously declared the nominee of the conven-tion. The convention then nominated Hon. THEODORE CONKEY as delegate to the State Convention by acclamation.George Ladow, James Meiklejohn, R.A. Law, J.S. Buck, and Perry H. Smith were appointed delegates to the Senatorial Convention, also by acclamation. The President on motion, appointed A.B. Everts, Theodore Conkey, P.H. Smith, George Ladow and E.L. Browne as the District Committee for the ensuing year. The Convention recommended that the Senatorial Convention be held at Weyauwega on the 31st inst., at 1 o’clock p.m., that each Assembly District be entitled to five votes, and that the District Committee call the next convention at New London.
On motion, the following resolutions were unanimously adopted:
Resolved. That in presenting the name of DAVID SCOTT, for the suffrages of the Democracy of this Assembly District we present a name untarnished by political or moral dissimulation – a true Democrat – well worthy to be the standard bearer in this Assembly District.
Resolved. That the proceedings of this Convention be signed by the Chairman and Secretary and published in the Appleton Crescent, Green Bay Advocate, Wisconsin Pinery, and Oshkosh Weekly Courier.
On motion. The Convention adjourned with three cheers for the nominee.
