SKELETON FOUND IN STREET

While grading on Badger Street north and west of the residence of the late Major Roberts, a skeleton and traces of the box in which it had lain for more than half a century, were exhumed near the middle of the street.  Old residents explain that he first cemetery was located here and some twelve bodies were removed to the present cemetery in an early day.  This was evidently one of the unmarked graves that were overlooked at the time as the graves were among the trees and not easy to find.  The remains were gathered and laid away in the present cemetery.
